Leonardo DiCaprio | Patrick Bateman – American Psycho

Of course, some actors have become near-synonymous with a couple of their on-screen roles. One such example would be Christian Bale, who is often regarded for his performance in The Dark Knight trilogy, The Prestige, The Machinist, and most especially, American Psycho.Before he landed the acting credit for the now-iconic character Patrick Bateman, Leonardo DiCaprio was initially set to portray the lead.

Well, knowing DiCaprio’s impressive range and flexibility, this would’ve made for an interesting performance. The thing was, at that point, the Revenant star was still fresh off the James Cameron-helmed film Titanic. This meant he had fans who undoubtedly expect his next role to be a Jack-like character, not a titular character for a slasher flick. Knowing this, the American Psycho director Mary Harron cast Bale instead, and, of course, the rest remains a significant piece of cinema history.
